Update: Outreach
January flew by quickly. Salvations for the year 2008 were 22.
Already this year as of Friday night 2/6/09 we have had 6 Salvations. I had a good conversation with "Pinky" and two other young men. During our conversation Pinky said he did not think God could forgive him for all the lives he took in Vietnam and for everything he has done throughout his life. He recalled being an alter boy as a kid in the catholic church. We talked about religion and works of our past. I shared with him several passages of scripture and we discussed the story of Nicodemas. I shared with him that it reveals to us that It's not religion but a relationship with Christ that saves. After several minutes I had the previledge to lead Matthew "Pinky" Y. A 62 year old Vietnam Veteran, to the Lord Jesus Christ. After leaning next to an old truck and asking Jesus to come into his heart and be his Lord, Matthew let out a Rebel Yell and said it feels as if a great weight was lifted off him. Every week we work with former and present drug addicts, drunks, prostitutes, homeless people, backsliden and the disenfrachised broken hearted with church. People who need to hear that Jesus Loves them. That there is Hope. That Hope is in Jesus Christ. When you get down to pray put in a prayer for our outreach team - Soldiers of the Cross, as we work with Labor of the Field every Friday night reaching out to the unchurched and unwanted.
